FORESTRY COMMISSION CAN BE SELF-SUSTAINING – HON CUDJOE

Hon Joseph Cudjoe, the Minister for Public Enterprises, has observed that Forestry Commission has the potential to generate enough income to become self-sustaining and effective.

According to the Minister, the Commission’s inability to become sustaining is because of certain factors it is facing.

The Minister made these statements when he led a team from his Office to embark on a working visit to the Forestry Commission on Monday 3rd April, 2023, and through that engaged with Management.

After a presentation by the Chief Executive on the overview of the Commission to the Minister and his team, the Minister observed that the Commission could be more effective and efficient if there were no hindrances to its revenue generation strategies.

Hon Cudjoe, commended the Management and staff of the Commission on their achievements thus far and charged them to develop a paper on their revenue mobilization strategy for the Sector Minister on their plans.

The Minister thus indicated his readiness to confer with the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the Minister for Finance to find lasting solutions to the problems of the Commission.
