The Minister for Public Enterprises, Honorable Joseph Cudjoe received the newly appointed Director General (DG) of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), John Boadu on Thursday, 21st December 2023 in his office.
This was when Mr. Boadu called on the Minister with his management team to introduce himself as the new DG and to establish a working relationship with him since he would be working directly under him (Minister).
In his remarks, the Hon Minister indicated that the establishment of SIGA and his appointment as the first Minister for Public Enterprises was in the right direction to achieve performance in the Public Enterprises sector.
According to Hon. Cudjoe, SIGA has a huge mandate that needs to be achieved to save the government’s budget.
“SIGA’s mandate is to ensure that the Public Enterprises perform and contribute to the government’s purse by paying taxes and dividends”, the Minister indicated.
Hon Cudjoe pointed out to the new DG that “there is a solid mandate to be achieved for the period remaining, but I believe that I can count on your experience to realize that”.
He cautioned him against internal politics, saying he should remain focused on his mandate to magnify his performance as the Director General of SIGA.
For his part, Mr. John Boadu admitted that he has a huge mandate but believes that he will achieve it with the aid of the Minister and the staff he has met at SIGA.
He indicated that he was aware of some challenges bedeviling the progress of SIGA and was happy the Minister was doing his best to help the Authority surmount them.
He promised to remain focused and work with everyone to attain the President’s vision for the Public Enterprises Sector.
